Admissions Criteria

The admissions committee reviews every MBA application according to the following criteria:

  • Academic achievements
  • Reference of work experience
  • Command of English language
  • Resume or CV
  • Accomplishments & achievements
  • Motivation letter
  • Admission interview

Academic Achievement

The Corvinus MBA Center requires at a minimum for every applicant to have a completed undergraduate degree with proof of completion by the presentation of an official diploma of transcript. We also consider graduate-level degrees from all areas of study including transfer students from other MBA programs or graduates from other MBA or MBA equivalent from another university or college.

Reference of Work Experience

At the Full-Time MBA program we expect at least

  • 3 years work experience (after graduation) in case of BA/BSc degree
  • 2 years work experience (after graduation) in case of MA/MSc degree 


For the Executive MBA program we expect 5 years of work experience. However, the average work experience for the EMBA students admitted to the program is 10 years.

The evaluation of the work experience will be rated based on but not limited to the following criteria:

  • Management skills
  • Professional Experience
  • Leadership Experience
  • Significant results


Command of English Language

To ensure a high level of interaction and group work opportunities it is important that every student in the MBA programs have a strong command of the English language. It is not necessary to take any of the available English exams or to submit your score as part of the application. However, the admissions office will asses each applicant's English abilities during their personal interview.

Resume or CV

An updated Professional Resume or CV is required. The resume should include all relevant information including but not limited to: academic credentials, degrees, accomplishments, professional experiences, and all other pertinent extracurricular activities.

All resume formats are accepted but the preferred format can be found at the EuroPass website.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Applicant who posses various accomplishments or achievements should list them in their CV or discuss them in their personal essay as they help to paint a better picture of the candidate’s competitiveness and success:

  • Academic: awards, inventions, research, publications
  • Professional: promotions, accomplishments, awards
  • Community: social or charity work, events, mentoring
  • Athletics: awards, competitions, achievements

Motivation Letter

One personal essay ("Motivation Letter") is required. The essay should be 1-2 pages discussing what personal or workplace challenges you will have to face in the near future. And how, according to your expectations, will the program help you meet these new challenges. The essay will be evaluated based on writing style, structure, and flow and will be used to determine if a candidate is a good fit for the program.

Personal Interview

After reviewing the applicant’s reference of work experience, personal essay, application form, Resume or CV, and Undergraduate and Masters Degree achievements the committee, based on fit and merit, will contact a select group of qualified students for an interview with the Admissions Board. Candidates with rejected application receive a short memo about the school's decision.

Application interviews may be conducted in person at the University in Budapest, or in exceptional cases via Video Conference. The interview will test the candidate based on the 4 assets listed below:

  • Personality
  • Professionalism
  • Perceived fit with the MBA program
  • Command of the English Language
  • At the Full-time MBA Program the admission interview focusing on the following topics:
    •    Business Ethics and Social Responsibility
    •    Managing the Business
    •    Organizing the Business
    •    Motivation
    •    Leadership
    •    Decision Making
    •    Human Resource Management
    •    Marketing Process and Consumer Behaviour
    •    Pricing, Distributing and Promoting Products
    •    Managing Business Finances

Rejected applications

Pleas note, that no documents will be returned to applicants. The submitted application form and any enclosed documents become property of the school. Applicants are allowed to re-apply to the program at any time. In this case the applicant will have to submit a new application package with all required supporting documents. It is also recommended to highlight the changes that may convince Corvinus MBA Center to accept the application.
